Two brothers, one trade

Finish carpentry workbench with a miter saw, chisels and cedar boards

Fornalski Construction is Sergio and Gabriel Fornalski, two Brazilian brothers who grew up around the trade and came to Cape Cod to work in it. Before there was a company, there was Sergio on somebody else's crew, doing finish carpentry on full home renovations across the Cape and quietly building the reputation that made a company possible.

Almost five years ago the brothers put their own name on the work. Gabriel took the phone, the estimates and the scheduling. Sergio took the tools and the crew. That split has not changed since, and neither has the reason they made it: between them they had seen enough projects run sideways to know exactly what they wanted to do differently.

They built the company around finish carpentry because it is the part of a house you cannot hide. Framing disappears behind drywall. A cabinet run that sits out of level, a miter that opens up over the first winter, a stair tread that flexes underfoot: those stay in front of you for as long as you own the house. Finish work is measured in sixteenths and judged from two feet away, which is a hard standard to hold and the only one worth putting a family name on.

Who runs your project

Every job starts with Gabriel. You call, text or send the form, and he is the one who answers, asks what you are actually trying to solve, and comes out to see the space. He measures, talks through the choices that cost more and the ones that cost less, and writes the estimate himself, with a defined scope and a timeline you can plan around.

Once you approve it, the work moves to Sergio. He leads the crew on site, and he is on site with them, not managing from a truck across town. Homeowners tell us that is the part they notice: the person who set the standard at the estimate is the same person holding the level three weeks later. Floors get covered before anything comes out of a toolbox, dust stays inside the work area, and the site gets swept at the end of every day.

You have one number for the whole project. When something changes, and inside an older Cape house something usually does, you hear it from us before it turns into a surprise, with a plan and a price already attached. At the end we walk the finished work together, one detail at a time, and nothing gets called done until you say it is.

What licensed and insured means in Massachusetts

Fornalski Construction is licensed and insured in Massachusetts. Every contractor in the state prints that on the side of a truck, so it is worth knowing what it actually protects on your project.

Registration as a Home Improvement Contractor is what Massachusetts requires before anyone takes on residential remodeling work. It obligates the contractor to put your job in a written contract instead of a handshake, and it gives you access to the state arbitration program and the Guaranty Fund if a registered contractor takes your money and fails to deliver. Hiring someone unregistered quietly removes both of those protections, and that is the real cost of the cheapest verbal quote.

Our registration is number 212308, held by Fornalski Construction Inc. You do not have to take our word for it: Massachusetts keeps a public registration lookup where you can confirm the number, see whether it is active and check when it expires, before you sign anything with us.

Insurance covers the other half. General liability means damage to your home while we are working in it is our problem to solve, not a claim against your homeowner's policy. Workers compensation means that if someone on the crew is hurt on your property, the coverage is ours. An injury on an uninsured crew can land in the homeowner's lap, which is the kind of thing nobody thinks about until it happens.

Ask to see the paperwork before you sign anything, with us or with anyone else quoting your job. We are happy to hand it over.

Five years on the Cape, based in South Yarmouth

The shop sits on Route 28 in South Yarmouth, a few minutes from Bass River. That is not incidental. It puts us a short drive from most of the Mid Cape, close enough to stop by a job in the morning to look at a single detail, and close enough that the reputation we have here is the one we protect hardest.

Five years in, most of the calendar comes from referrals and repeat clients. A neighbor watches a crew work on the house next door for three weeks and then calls. Someone whose bathroom we built two years ago calls back about a deck. That is slower to build than advertising and much harder to fake, and it is the only kind of growth the brothers ever wanted.

We work from Falmouth to Orleans and most places in between, with South Yarmouth, Dennis, Hyannis and the rest of the Mid Cape filling most weeks. If your house is on the Cape, there is a good chance we have built something near it.
